Heyy everyone :)

Hi guys, my name is Mahnoor and I'm a Pakistani expatriat who has been living in Dubai for the past 12 years. Dubai has become more of a home for me than Pakistan ; however, I will never be able to call Dubai mine because only Emariti's have the right to gain the passport. Although I love Pakistani, I get a few culture shocks now that I go back. I'm a business finance major and have a passion for business. I visit the states now and then but have never been to Michigan and hope to learn all about it :)

  1. What different cultural shocks have you experienced when going back home, could you go into more detail? :)

  2. Sorry for the late reply, well first of all, Dubai is alot more open-minded in all aspects such as clothes, going out, interaction with the opposite sex (in pakistan its pretty much forbidden to hang out with the opposite sex, specially if you're a girl).Ontop of that food is a HUGE problem for me because it just tastes so differet there even if it's Mcdonald's it just tastes different!
I think the biggest culture shock for me is not having as much freedom as I do here just because I'm a girl! I'm used to being independant and going out when I feel like it ( keeping my curfew in mind ofcourse) but when I go there my parents feel start thinking like people in Pakistan because in Pakistan they worry alot about what other people will say. Although I love my country and i love visiting, it takes alot of getting used to haha
