Hello Everyone =)

From hearts, lungs and passionate love for medicine to circuits, magnetic and challenging engineering, this is how my life changed 180 degrees in summer, 2009। I found myself studying Electrical Engineering in the American University in Dubai। It is almost a year now from my first day in the university and I'm almost adapting the surrounding environment. Living in the United Arab Emirates, specifically Dubai, I am considered a local citizen in the country. As a hobby, I am interested in the Arabic Calligraphy so much that I carry my calligraphist pen with me most of the times. Since I've lived in Dubai my whole life, I consider this connection a great opportunity to be in touch with students from other universities and learn more about the American culture from its own citizens. I hope this experience to be a beneficial one to the extreme for all of us.

Sincerely,
Sana

  1. Kettering University is primarily an engineering school, so most of the students posting from here are engineering majors as well. I am a mechanical engineering major, I'm not sure if there are any electrical engineers in the class.

Have you done any traveling outside of Dubai? I have never lived in a big city and I cannot imagine spending my whole life in one.

  2. Initially, when Doc Hall told us about the University and mentioned the fact that it is an engineering school, I was really excited, perhaps even more than my colleagues, since this will be a great chance to learn about how is the engineering experience in the US. I had a look at your website and felt that it must be a great opportunity to study something and apply it in the field in the same year!

Regarding my travels, I mainly lived in Dubai my whole life, of course I traveled to other Emirates (In case you didn't know there are 7 Emirates united and represent our country, the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is one of those Emirates.) so it is difficult for me too to imagine myself living somewhere else but I would love to do that out of curiousity and learning.

Dubai is not a big city in terms of the area it occupies, however, I consider it to be big in terms of the various nationalities that live in here. As one of my colleagues mentioned in a previous post it is indeed a Glabal Village.
